Rebecca Morosky Hoffman, owner of BHYC, is filled with gratitude and joy to operate the only Bikram Certified studio here in town.  Born and raised in Columbus, she is a proud graduate of Columbus School for Girls, Boston College and University of Miami School of Law. Becky started practicing Bikram yoga in 2010 after many years of unhealthy habits and avoiding exercise altogether.  She had found her passion and purpose in life after trying the Bikram method.  Immediately her insomnia and chronic back problems disappeared, her body became toned and strong and the stress reducing, mentally soothing effects immediately made her a devoted student. She attended the legendary Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in the Spring of 2011. She is also certified to teach Inferno Hot Pilates and Yin yoga.

"I feel so blessed. Thanks to Bikram yoga, I fell in love with myself and life all over again. This yoga has changed my life in so many wonderful ways I truly want to share it with as many people as possible. Our mission here at BHYC is to "safely teach Bikram yoga as a transforming tool for body, mind & spirit," and I take this responsibility, this privilege very seriously."

LIZ PRICE

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Liz moved to Columbus in 2006 and has since fallen in love with the city. She is a huge sports fan and bleeds for her scarlet and grey. After graduating with her BSN from The Ohio State University in 2007 she took a job as a nurse at the Ross Heart Hospital. Eventually, she started to feel like she was in a rut and her joints and body ached from the physicality of her job and being a longtime runner. She decided that she needed a change. After the first of the New Year in 2014, one of her co-workers suggested she come with her to Bikram Hot Yoga. Intrigued by this offer, the very next day, she gave it a shot. The rest is history. She felt both challenged and inspired by the yoga and loved how rejuvenated it made her feel. Soon she had a constant craving for the heat, sweat, and healing that this yoga had to offer.

As she began to deepen her practice, the love and belief in the yoga grew and a strong urge to share this passion blossomed.  After listening to a few gentle nudges from the universe, partnered with continual support and encouragement from the owner, fellow yogis, and her home studio, everything fell into place. Once she completed her graduate degree in the spring of 2016, she was headed for a 4-week trip to Mexico for Sterling Hot Yoga Works Teacher Training. She is also certified to teach Inferno Hot Pilates!

“I teach this yoga because I truly believe in its magic. It has helped me through some of the most difficult times in my life and I don’t know where I would be without it. This yoga is for everyone and every body. It gives you exactly what you need, even if you don’t know what that is. You will feel it all over, inside out, bones to skin, fingertips to toes. Can’t wait to see you in the hot room!"

Alex was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and made her way to Columbus in 2015 by way of Texas, after finishing her master's degree in Biology. Alex started her Bikram yoga practice in 2012 and fell in love with the series immediately. She has kept up her practice through three states, working at each studio along the way, either at the front desk or with Karma Crew.

Alex has been involved in athletics and exercise since she was young, swimming most of her life before beginning her yoga practice. When Inferno Hot Pilates was introduced to the Columbus studio, Alex saw this as an opportunity to begin teaching and loved the intensity and fun in the music-driven class. Alex attended training in July 2017 and has been having a blast teaching IHP since then. Her goal is to become a Bikram Yoga teacher in the future.

Outside of yoga and pilates, Alex works at CoverMyMeds, enjoys traveling and reading and loves her husband and adorable dog.

Tyrone russell

Tyrone is excited to return to his hometown of Columbus after being away teaching Bikram Yoga since 2004. He grew up on the Southside, graduated from St. Charles and is a proud alumnus of the Ohio State University with a B.S. in New Media Design. In his time away from the Buckeye state he has worked as a certified Neuromuscular Therapist, studied exercise science and pre-chiropractic, and worked in New Zealand’s screen industry.

Through all of that, Bikram Yoga has been his constant. “I only tried it the first time because the thought of doing anything for 90 minutes in a 105 degree room sounded ridiculous… so naturally I had to try it. I was shocked at how amazing I felt after that first class. I figured if I felt that good, and I sat down for most of class, then what would happen if I kept coming back? Over a decade later I’m still here and I feel the best I’ve ever felt.”

As an instructor Tyrone is drawn to the simplicity and effectiveness of the Bikram sequence; how this series brings function back to the body. “I really dig how it’s accessible to everyone. When I first started practicing I had preconceived notions about what “yoga” was and who it was for. I look around the room and see every shape, age, and fitness level getting an incredible total body/mind workout. I tell everyone to come and try it and you’ll be surprised how much better you feel after just a couple of classes.”

WHITNEY KAPPES

Whitney is from Columbus, Ohio and loves it! She has always been very fitness oriented, involved in volleyball and track throughout school.  She first tried yoga in 2006 and was instantly hooked - not believing how much better her body and mind felt! She soon became a hot yoga instructor teaching almost daily. In 2008 Whitney went to professional massage therapy school, becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT).  Whitney loves helping people heal their bodies holistically through regular massage therapy and a dedicated Bikram yoga practice.  She passionately believes in the curative powers of both for the body, mind and spirit!  In the Spring of 2012 she graduated from the challenging, inspirational, life changing Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in California and has taught in Cincinnati, Key West, Mobile, Toledo and Nashville.  Whitney wholeheartedly agrees with Bikram Choudhury that "You are never too old, never too bad, never too late, never too sick to start from the scratch once again!"

"A deep tissue massage after a rigorous Bikram hot yoga class has very intense and miraculous healing powers. Everyone should try it! I just feel so happy to be living my dream and very honored to be a certified Bikram yoga instructor. I credit my faith in God, my amazing family and many loyal friends for supporting and encouraging me on this wonderful journey."

KALEE MALONEY

Kalee started practicing Bikram Yoga in Louisville, KY in 2009.  After getting married that fall and moving to Austin, TX,  she  continued to strengthen her practice daily and fell in love with the yoga – a rigorous, full-body workout AND a disciplined meditative focus on inner stillness.  Living a life of constant travel alongside her husband, Matt – a former professional baseball player – gave her the opportunity to practice and teach in many Bikram yoga studios around the country including San Diego, Los Angeles, Phoenix, St. Louis, Chicago, Columbus, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Seattle, Fort Myers, Naples, NYC, Indianapolis… AND to stay calm, collected and focused in the midst of the crazy baseball lifestyle where change is constant and can come at any time.

As a proud buckeye who graduated from Ohio State, Kalee worked her way through school as a personal trainer as she was drawn to serving people and guiding them towards health and wellbeing.  After she stopped working in 2009 to travel with Matt,  she felt compelled to seek out a career that would allow her to continue to share her passion for health, whole-living and taking care of mind/body/spirit while accommodating the ever-changing travel schedule of the baseball life. Bikram Yoga Teacher Training was the perfect fit.  She started teaching just one day after she got home from training and has been traveling & teaching ever since, sharing her love for this yoga.

Kalee & Matt had their first child, Lou, in January of 2015. Kalee continued to practice and teach Bikram yoga throughout her entire pregnancy which kept her feeling strong, healthy and vibrant while preparing her for a beautiful, natural birth. Kalee's little family has settled down back into their home state of Ohio, nestled in the village of Granville, where she is dedicated to give to her community in whatever way she can, including the healing work of teaching Bikram yoga.

“It is my deepest and sincerest belief that we all have a responsibility to take care of one another. And that is exactly why I am teaching this yoga.”

JAYE RIEDINGER

Jaye is from Cold Spring, KY. A proud graduate of the University of Cincinnati, she moved to Columbus, OH in 2010 to pursue a creative career in graphic design for Hollister Co at Abercrombie & Fitch.

Jaye started her yoga journey in 2010, and Bikram Yoga found her in the winter of 2012. A clear series of events lead Jaye to the yoga, and then the yoga started working for her. Things started changing, she started changing. After years of suffering from anxiety and joint pain from years of distance running, the yoga taught Jaye how to breathe again, and allowed her to stop sleeping on icepacks. One of the best things about this yoga is that although it changes you – the yoga will always stay the same.

In 2014, the BHYC studio owner told Jaye she should go to teacher training. Jaye immediately said that she couldn’t leave her job, and that she loved being a student and would consider going when the training returned to LA. That conversation in the locker room never left her mind, and after 6 months of meditating on the idea, Jaye quit her job, trusted her gut, and with the support of her family, friends, and Bikram studio, she went to the Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in the Spring of 2015 in Thailand. Nine weeks that would change her life forever.

Off the mat, Jaye is busy back at Hollister Co. leading the design marketing team, collecting crystals and being a cat mom. Becoming a Bikram teacher is the best decision Jaye has made in her life so far – but she will forever be a student.
